Goleen N.S is a co-educational primary school under the patronage of the Bishop of Cork and Ross. The current enrolment is 40 pupils.
High expectations and positive experiences are placed at the core of our vision for the school. We aim to create a friendly and supportive atmosphere where all children and staff are respected and valued.
We endeavour to offer a welcoming, happy, caring and challenging educational environment in which every child is encouraged to develop to his/her full capacity.
While we are a school with a catholic ethos, we welcome and respect children of all faiths and none. We celebrate and cherish diversity in our school.
As principal of Goleen N.S. I am very grateful for the co-operation and support of parents, pupils, staff, Board of Management, Parents’ Association, caretaker/cleaner, secretary and the wider Goleen Community. Together, we endeavour to provide our pupils with a broad educational experience.

Goleen National School is a two teacher school and each classroom benefits from an interactive whiteboard. The Parish Hall is also available as a general purpose room cum classroom. Ipads are available for use by all children.
There are two mainstream class teachers, one S.E.T (Special Education Teacher), one S.N.A (Special Needs Assistant), a part-time secretary and a cleaner/caretaker.
There are two astro-turf play areas where the children can play basketball, hockey, rounders, soccer, etc. There is an abundance of P.E equipment, class libraries are well stocked and updated frequently. Our book rental scheme ensures that the cost of school books is kept to a minimum. Swimming and dancing are offered to the children as part of the curriculum.
We have a very committed and hard working staff and the children in our school are beautifully behaved. The school’s child centred Mission Statement is evident in the daily life of the school.
Inspiration for our school crest has come from the childrens’ artwork. They have chosen the local, iconic landmark of the Fastnet.
This is quite apt……..
Just as the Fastnet casts its light along the shores of the South-West, Goleen National School endeavours to shed enlightenment among all those who pass through.
